Windermere Town Windermere is on the hillside and Bowness on the Lake shore. set within the Lake District National Park, combine to offer panoramic views of the Lake and fells. There are many superb attractions not to be missed nearby, such as Brockhole National Park Visitor Centre, the World of Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Townend, Troutbeck, a 17th century farmhouse owned by the National Trust, to name but a few. Windermere Lake Cruises can be linked with a ride on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway and a visit to the Aquarium of the Lakes at the foot of the Lake. In the town itself there is numerous shops and forty something eating houses there's also a theatre and a three screen cinema To compliment the superb attractions there are also numerous outdoor activities including a pitch and put, golf, sailing, canoeing, fishing, horse riding, tennis, bowling, mountain biking and unrivaled opportunities for fell walking, England's largest lake, is ten and half miles in length and half mile in breadth at its widest point. If you arrive by train or bus you can pop into the tourist information centre just outside the respective stations to book a taxi or accommodation. There's plenty of buses and taxis about but if you want you can go on one of the many excursion with Lakes Supertours. | |||||||
